Snowy weekends in Vermont

The last two weekends have been spent up at Moose Manor. Poor Jim had a nasty head cold and sinus infection, so I tried to take care of things around the house and let him get as much rest as possible. (Unfortunately, he had to work the whole new year's weekend.)

So, there was soup making. Last weekend it was chicken noodle (my first batch from scratch), and this weekend it was chicken barley.

And then there was French Onion soup. It amazes me how slow cooking can turn onions from this...

...to this.

And there was snow...

lots of snow...

No knitting, though. But New Year's weekend there was a stop at Webs, but that turned out to be a remote shopping trip for Punkin.

Oh well, time to get back to work. Hopefully I'll make it to my knitting groups this week, and even get a little spinning time in. I'd like to try out a new toy that was waiting for me when I got home yesterday...

Oy, all the snow. My aching back.

I've been making lentil veggie soups and stews. Got one of those pricey enameled cast iron pots for Christmas and it is so much fun to play with. I love your pottery soup mug. That's a great idea for Christmas next year for the out of state family. I sent them VT pottery coffee mugs this year. It used to be VT maple syrup but who can afford that any more? Saw a squirrel squeezing into my roof yesterday so there's the first official hassle of '09. ugh
